Discount Grocery Stores

I happen to be one of the lucky ones that has a discount grocery store near my work place. Mine is named "Surplus Outlet". About once every two weeks or so, I head over after work to see what they have to offer. Today I went and purchased everything you see here for a total of $47.21.

I compared that to the items' regular prices and figure I saved $39.18 today on things that we use all the time. That's 45.35% off of the regular price without having to use coupons. Discount grocery stores purchase overstock, expired, damaged or other unwanted stock from many different suppliers. You never know what you're going to find when you visit them, so if you find something you love, get as many as you can because it may not be there the next time you visit. My discount grocery also sells deli meats, veggies, fruit and cheeses from local markets.

I don't buy outdated items or dented cans. That's just me. So, I end up getting my deals mostly on paper products, cereals and bottles of juice and water that have come out of the six packs. My total today included 16 rolls of toilet tissue (double rolls), 5 boxes and one 36 oz bag of cereal, deli roast beef and flavored cheese, bacon, 8 bottles of water, 3 bottles of life water, a 64 oz jar of jalapeno peppers, 2 bags of pretzels, 6 boxes of Planters trail mix snacks, a gallon of milk, 2 bottles of hydrogen peroxide, a large jar of black olives, a box of dog biscuits, a box of tea bags (80 count), a bunch of celery and a jar of horseradish sauce. By the way...the bottles of water will last about 3 months here. We re-use them for lunches by filling with iced tea, filtered water, etc.

Overall, you can really score at discount grocery stores if you have the time to look around, check the dates and not have a firm idea of what you want.
