Grocery Challenge ~ Day Two

Today I stopped at one of my favorite places to shop, Aldi's. I needed to pick up some fresh items (milk, bread, etc) but also wanted to start stocking up for our vacation that is coming up. Yes, the challenge has fallen over our vacation, so I'm up for a real challenge indeed! I spent a total of $33.94, but food total was $29.76 (the challenge doesn't include household items, just food).

Today's meals included:

Breakfast: Oatmeal/cereal with the last of fresh strawberries.

Lunch: Salad with baby greens, kiwi, blue cheese and glazed pecans, homemade bagel chips, sliced kohlrabi from the garden and lowfat pound cake with pureed black cherries. Hubby added a sandwich to his.

Dinner: Ham and cheese flatbread sandwiches and iced tea ~ used a gift card.

Snack: sorbet

Today's tip: Slice stale bagels and arrange on a cookie sheet that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Spray the bagel slices then season with your choice of herbs, etc. Bake in a 325 degree oven until slightly brown and crisp. (about 10 to 12 minutes or so, but check often!) Enjoy your homemade bagel chips!
